The Mystery Method and Neil Strauss

Hey there!

Area51Lifestyle and Mike Long decided to investigate the Mystery Method years ago and have been publishing our findings on www.theMysteryMethod.net, I first met Erik Von Markovic aka Mystery, inventor of the Mystery Method, in Los Angeles in the summer of 2004, but we were re-introduced by Neil Strauss, author of the New York Times best seller “the Game.”

(To get a free 34-page video book by Mystery and me, Mike Long click here.)

Here’s the scoop:

Neil Strauss was actually a student of the Mystery Method and I had become friends when I advised him and his business partners during their “Annihilation Method” launch (The name Annihilation Method is actually pulled from “Annihilation Engine” the name of my still upcoming book.)

Frank Kern suggested that we get together with Mystery to see if we could put together a special project. I agreed and though Kern later backed out, Mystery and I ended up proceeding. Since that time Area51Lifestyle has helped thousands of students succeed.

At the time there was very little when it came to Mystery Method Youtube, or really any videos. We began filming in earnest.

Here’s a video that Mystery and me put together with another of his students, Matador:

This video is part 1 of a 2-part series on something that Mystery likes to call “debriefing” where he goes into a sort of analytical mode looking at everything in a “meeting girls” situation from what kind of Mystery Method openers he might have used, or other types of openers, all the way to whether he crashed and burned and why to whether and why he succeeded that night.

Around that time I got the opportunity to go out with Mystery and Neil quite a number of times and I noticed a lot of differences when it came to their “game” but also a lot of similarities.

Neil turned out to be often much more focused than Mystery, though Mystery obviously garnered more attention.

We met up at the Roosevelt hotel one night and hung out poolside. Neil kept constant focus on the girls we met and situations that were popping up.

Mystery sort of zoned out for much of the evening but then still came back into sharp focus when a couple of French girls ended up following us over to the Roosevelt’s diner.

I’ll get to more of the details of this story as well as part 2 of the video above in my next post – including why Neil told me to “go find Jdog”.

It’s all happening,

Mystery Method Pick-up Analysis (Hidden Camera Video With Mystery Commenting.)

Hey there,

Area51Lifestyle.com is the authority on Mystery Method and pick up training, with a library of video training. (Click here for a 34-page video book by Mystery and me on how to pick up.

One of the hallmarks of Mystery Method is the idea of analyzing in field pick up.

Let me explain…

Before Mystery began researching, practicing and instructing others on becoming a pick up artist, most of the training on the subject was theory.

Guys like Ross Jeffries and folks who taught about how to pick up were using Neuro Linguistic Programming and pioneering a lot of the same techniques.

And even after Mystery, guys like David DeAngelo (Eben Pagan) and Neil Strauss, Mystery’s student, would do the same.

But something really special about Mystery Method that was new was Mystery’s focus on field testing.

Here’s the scoop:

When Mystery and I were first starting to work together we had a dinner with Neil Strauss where a guy named Cliff from Cliff’s List also attended.

Cliff told me that in the early days of pick up training nobody was talking about actual field testing.

In fact Cliff told me that Mystery would issue challenges to other guys on the pick up forums like fastseduction to come out with him and prove that their theories actually worked.

Cliff said that he was one of the first people to take up the gauntlet that Mystery threw down and actually go in field with.

He said that almost invariably when folks would go out with Mystery that the result was the same, that they would see Mystery’s ideas worked in application, and not just in theory.

That was one of the reasons that Mystery and I put together training based not just on great ideas, but also on actual hidden camera video of Mystery going in field and doing cold approach pick up.

The result is a sort of accelerated training, almost like the way the Neo learned skills by directly jacking his his mind into a special training machine.

Here’s a video that Mystery and I recorded together where he analyzes a hidden camera video clip of him in field, and explains exactly what he was doing and why:

The thing that’s so valuable about this kind of training is because learning happens in application both physically and visually.

In fact it turns out that NFL players who are paid millions of dollars per year are instructed by their coaches, who are also paid millions each year, to spend as much as 50% or more of their practice time watching video of themselves and of their opponents!

That’s because watching actual video is one of the best ways for the human mind to assimilate new information and put it into practice.

Because of that we assembled a massive library of training videos, not just interviews but also step-by-step demonstration videos and hours of hidden camera video with Mystery, and with many of our students.

Area51Lifestyle has taught hundreds of thousands of guys key lessons on pick up and offers a free 34-page video book by Mystery and me.

Mystery Method on Handling Interrupts

Hey everyone,

In our investigation into The Mystery Method one of the biggest questions that came up was how to handle interrupts.

The idea with interrupts is where you start a conversation with a girl and then somebody else butts in.

It could be another guy who’s interested in the girl. It could be a girlfriend. It could be a bartender asking her for a drink.

Here’s a video that we shot on handling interrupts:

The main thing when it comes to handling interrupts is to keep going.

Let me explain…

What most folks do when they are interrupted is to sort of lose their mojo, and shut down.

But that’s exactly the opposite of what you want to do.

The idea with Mystery Method is to break down what’s really going on in any pick-up situation into distinctions that can help you succeed.

In the case of interrupts it turns out to be psychologically “normal” to go quiet, or even wander off once the flow of conversation is diverted or stymied.

But it actually turns out to be a great opportunity to demonstrate higher value when somebody else interrupts!

That’s because most girls are so used to folks “shutting down” when they get interrupted that you can actually distinguish yourself, and stimulate her interest, by keeping up the flow of conversation.

Here’s one perspective:

One of the things that Mystery realized through all of his testing is that if you interrupt the person who’s interrupting you, that you can actually gain a totally unfair advantage in the conversation.

For one thing, they may just shut down and stand there like a statue, or just go wonder off.

More often than not that’s the case.

Or if the person you interrupt hangs in there, you may actually gain an ally in winning over the girl you were targeting in the first place!

That’s because by engaging in the conversation at hand you’re actually totally distinguishing yourself from what most people would do!

That’s not to say that you want to be obnoxious. Though you’re almost certainly better off risking offending somebody than skulking off or shutting down.

One of the things Mystery is fond of saying is: “Aaaaaand back to me.” in a playful and funny way.

This is a way that you can generate light hearted fun in a “cocky funny” way where you’re showing off your confidence and your sense of humor at the same time.
